1st Model Call
It has begun. I have thrown myself into another world-wind adventure. I will be creating new fashions for my clothing line Raw Culture, to be shown at the closing event for the Hygienic Art Gallery’s annual No Judge, No Jury show.

It’s 1:30 in the morning. I am pumped up! Mahray (Mikey Golembeski – Bass guitar, Matt Dean – djembe, Ed Briones – vocals and guitar and Me on lead vocals)had our first gig in a long while. It’s official, we are back on the scene. Despite missing Ian Kelly our amazing drummer who was out sick, we had a blast playing.
We played at Hot Rod’s in New London, CT. Awesome! Rod has a great space, as well as the best wings in the area. The venue is a restaurant which means all ages are welcome. I enjoyed playing an earlier gig, it’s nice to play before everybody gets drunk, then the night is more about the music. As a bonus the drinks are good the staff are sweethearts. Oh ya, and lots of connect 4.
“Rod we’ll come out and play for you any time. Thank you”
Music is truly my passion. It’s what really makes me happy. It feels so good to be performing again.
That’s my shout out for tonight.

I love it when my fiance calls me up to grab lunch. The Dutch Tavern is the oldest bar in New London, CT and one of our favorite midday spots. They serve a very traditional american lunch. Peter Detmold (the owner) is the only one you’ll ever find on the grill and thats the way he likes it. It’s also one of the few places left you can eat for under $5. The Dutch is known for it’s burgers, though my favorites are the tuna melt (pictured above) and the Veggie burger. Just make sure you get there before 3:30pm when he shuts down the grill. Oh and don’t forget to say hi to Ellie.
Let us know your favorite lunch spot.

Wigged-out Jessie Scrunches Nose
Some weeks are easier than others. We all need a chance to escape our daily lives. A good girls night is always the perfect prize at the end of a grueling week. This week a strong drink and dancing wasn’t quite enough. We needed a full on Wig Out. Their is nothing like putting on a great outfit, a pair of high heeled boots and yes, a wig. It’s the perfect time of year to find them. But what’s the fun in wearing one on Halloween when everyone else is. We picked a nice random, rainy Thursday. Even though we spent most of it in the bathroom getting ready, oh and laughing until I cried, we eventually made it out. Our aspirations to get to the closest big city were dashed by an unusually early snow but good old down town New London, CT welcomed us with all our favorite faces and great music. Rejuvenating and re-inventing yourself is just one wig away.
Good places to find wigs:
- Aticc (All wigs in post were purchased here. Great price!) www.aticcshop.com
- Hot topic (I was surprised to find they are good quality for the price.)
- Any Halloween pop up store in your town. (These stores are about to have close out prices)
